Beginning September 3rd, 2017 the church will combine the early and late service. There will be one service at 9 AM. Communion will be offered each Sunday. Sunday School will follow the service at 10:30 AM.
The move to one service is not intended to be permanent. After our new pastor accepts our call, the decision will be reevaluated as we construct the new path forward for Gethsemane.
Please join us Sunday September 3rd, at 7:30 AM for breakfast in the Life Center before our initiation of the 9 AM church service.
Pastor Cain has answered a call to serve in Nacogdoches, TX and consequently, the congregation is now beginning the process of calling another Pastor. To lead this process, the council has put together a committee of seven congregation members. We ask for your prayers and patience as we work through finding the leader God has chosen for our church.
Sometime in July, 2017, they will participate in a mission trip to The House of the Lamb of God orphanage in Ouanaminthe, Haiti. They will be traveling with volunteers from Reedemer Lutheran Church of Salem, Oregon, who are partnering with "Nord Est Haiti Lutheran Mission".
Their mission is a sponsorship program to support the children of Haiti who have been born into a deprived economic and political environment. Through this sponsorship, aid will be provided for the physical and spiritual development of children to improve their abilities to serve God, family, and their community. This is an opportunity to serve God through serving others.
Jesus proclaimed, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine you did for me." (Matthew 25:40)
Pastor and Kathi will be working on a special mission project The total cost of sending Pastor and Kathi to Haiti will be around $4000. This includes airfare, transportation, and room and board for them at the orphanage in Haiti.
Past teams have put in gardens, built dormitories for the orphanage, and built school buildings.
Any funds raised above this amount will be used to purchase construction materials and miscellaneous supplies to help the orphanage and school. These are especially needed as the hurricane has caused a shortage of supplies. We will also use contributions to help support a week-long Vacation Bible School for 250 children..
But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God." (Luke 18:16)
